Coniapple Tree

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 67 feet (20.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in thin, rough, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is black.

The tangled mess of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of huge, wide leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either sky blue or purple, with cream zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of giant, cyan blossoms with 9 pointed petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In early summer it produces small, perforated fruit. The waxy slate skin is thin and salty, and the soft blood red flesh is sour and juicy. The pale green seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
