Aquamarineberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, ridged, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.

The abundance of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of huge, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either aquamarine or lilac, with black streaks.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, red blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like onion.

In early winter it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The clammy indigo skin is delicate and sweet, and the slightly crunchy olive flesh is sweet and bitter and very juicy. The black seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
