Orangebell Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in silky, black bark, and inside, the light wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short and slender and are covered with large amounts of large, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are slate and light brown.

In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, deep orange blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like cherry.

In early winter it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The soft cream skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is sweet and sticky. The caramel seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
every part of the shrub is extremely toxic.
