Burgundy Creeper

This average-sized creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 26 feet (7.9 meters)0.

It takes 2 years for the burgundy stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are smooth and slick.

The very narrow and elongated, smooth leaves reach up to 5 inches (13 cm) in length. They are brown at the bottom and crimson with blood red lines at the top, and have rounded edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces a thick sheet of large red flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces a handful of large seed pods.
