Magenta

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, dark gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of huge, fan-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are gray-green with olive tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, yellow blossoms with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like fermented fruit.

In late summer it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The fuzzy beige skin is delicate and sweet, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is salty and very juicy. The green seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
