Redleaf Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This small leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is red, and is dotted with small beige spines. The stumpy leaves are either purple, or green with orange zig-zags. Large amounts of them grow on thick, gnarled, green branches that are tall, rigid and upright. The leaves are strong, but detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 10 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with grey petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 23 raised narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like lavender.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the blood red flesh is leathery, and the light red sap is thin.

It can survive a long time without water.
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
