Copperheart Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall. The very thin stem is yellow-green, and is dotted with small grey spines. The stocky, black trunk can grow to as much as 29 feet (8.8 meters) in diameter. Its copper branches trail down across the ground.

The rounded-edged, slender, pointed leaves are blood red on the sides and copper at the center. They are delicate, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid hazel petals and a violet central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like cinnamon.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the grey flesh is waxy, and the blue sap is thin.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
