Azure Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in very thick, rough, brown-green bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy.

The small handful of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine and azure.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of giant, pale red blossoms with 8 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like new carpet.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, perforated fruit. The hairy pale red skin is thin and inedible, and the soft azure flesh is savoury and very dry. The slate seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It has impressive regenerative properties.
It is suitable for making paper
