Azurefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, twisting trunk covered in delicate, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the soft wood is gray.

The small handful of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are silver and hazel.

In early spring, it produces a handful of large, cyan blossoms with 8 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like new books.

In mid-summer it produces very large, spherical fruit. The leathery light brown skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is spicy and salty, and the very soft azure flesh is sour and juicy. The light brown seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
