This orange-yellow moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In heathlands, and In rainforests.
It is giant, growing up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is slightly flimsy.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores.
