Crimson Starvine

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 52 feet (15.8 meters) tall. The tapering stem is burgundy, and is covered in thick sheets of rigid olive spines. The ripped-edged, very thin leaves are blood red and amber. Small amounts of them grow from the base in alternating pairs. The leaves are resistant, and easily come away when pulled.

It is very fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are either lilac or lime, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is shaped like a star with 40 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like citrus.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the deep red flesh is rough, and the hazel sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
