Turquoisefern
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This big shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 169 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has many stocky, angular stems covered in delicate, knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is black.
The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, 7 pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid intense orange or turquoise, with olive splotches, frail and rough.
In mid-spring it produces several giant, red blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like warm cookies.
In midwinter small long, tapering fruits ripen. The smooth light grey skin is stretchy and sour, and the soft white flesh is sour and very juicy. The hazel seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
