Waterstem Oak

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 38 meters (124.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 165 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in thin, rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of soft, large, asymmetrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in purple, purple and crimson varieties.

In late summer it forms small, white seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
