Copperberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 16 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in hard, cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid dark brown with slate splotches.

In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, white blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like a woman.

In early winter it produces , cuboid fruit. The fuzzy copper skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is sweet and bitter, and the very soft washed-out green flesh is spicy and dry. The faded red seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
