This green moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In damp forests.
It is small, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is slightly flimsy.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It can flourish even in standing water.
It is suitable for making paper
