Emerald Capsule Moss

This emerald moss is commonly found blanketing small areas On rotten logs, In rainforests, and On trees.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is extremely flimsy.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores.
