Blue Trumpet Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with handfuls of small, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in olive and dark brown varieties.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of giant, bold blue blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like perfume.

In early winter it produces small, 6 pointed fruit. The clammy light grey skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft cream flesh is sweet and bitter and juicy. The black seeds are large and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
