Coniapple

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 83 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, wonky trunk covered in very thick, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The numerous branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of miniature, sickle shaped leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either florescent yellow or bronze, with silver lines.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, washed-out blue blossoms with 4 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like fruity.

In early autumn it produces , wide fruit. The crispy azure skin is delicate and spicy, and the crunchy pink flesh is sweet and oily. The gold seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
