Copper Succulent

This short caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The wispy stem is brown, and is covered in handfuls of flexible white spines. It has a curved, wide, beige trunk atop a slender stilted platform of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are narrow and yellow-green and are short stubs.

The tattered-edged, shield-shaped leaves are slate and red. They are flimsy, but take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally copper; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. It has a soft scent that smells like wet dog.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the dull red flesh is leathery, and the magenta sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.
