This dark brown moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In rainforests, and In marshes.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely resilient; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release dozens of spores.

Several parts of the fruit tree have medicinal properties.
It comes in 55 varieties.
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
