Amberfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wavy trunk covered in rough, silver bark, and inside, the hard wood is white with black speckles.

The extensive patches of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid orange with amber streaks.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, caramel blossoms with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like paint.

In early autumn it produces tiny, oval fruit. The smooth intense green skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft sky blue flesh is savoury and juicy. The light brown seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
