Bluebell Bush

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 113 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many branched, straight stems covered in silky, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of small, asymmetrical, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bold orange and blue, delicate and smooth.

In mid-summer it produces a thick sheet of small, azure blossoms with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an intense scent that smells like new carpet.

In mid-autumn tiny needle-like fruits ripen. The rubbery white skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy sky blue flesh is spicy and very dry. The gold seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.
