Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In damp forests.
It is small, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is very rigid; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald circular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores.
