Bluefruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, angular trunk covered in thin, knobbly, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, fan-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are blue and hazel.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, cyan blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like vanilla.

In late summer it produces small, long, straight fruit. The fuzzy sky blue skin is thin and inedible, and the soft aquamarine flesh is sweet and oily. The crimson seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
