Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 74 feet (22.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in fine, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is silver.

The numerous branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of large, sickle shaped leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and light brown.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, lilac blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like vomit.

In late summer it produces , fan-like fruit. The rubbery gold skin is thick and edible when roasted; it is savoury, and the slightly crunchy black flesh is savoury and syrupy. The cream seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
