This emerald moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In bogs.
It is giant, growing up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is very hardy; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
