Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In marshes.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores.
