Azureberry

This large fruit tree grows up to 39 feet (11.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in very thick, ridged, dark gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are short and slender and are covered with handfuls of miniature, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of green that gradient shifts to gold at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, purple blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like mint.

In late summer it produces small, circular fruit. The hairy azure skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft green flesh is spicy and oily. The dark grey seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
