Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 52 feet (15.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with large amounts of huge, very narrow and elongated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in grey, caramel and blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, pink blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like warm milk.

In early winter it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The hairy gold skin is tough and sweet, and the crunchy peach flesh is bitter and salty and syrupy. The cream seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It can survive a very long time without water.
