Azureberry

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, gray bark, and inside, the light wood is white.

The excessive amount of branches are very short and thick and are covered with large amounts of small, 9 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are brown and white.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, dark brown blossoms with 4 triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like fruity.

In early autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The crispy lime skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sweet and savoury, and the very soft azure flesh is sour and syrupy. The cream seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
