Azurefruit Tree

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in cracked, light gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid bright yellow with cream lines.

In early spring, it produces clusters of medium-sized, aquamarine blossoms with 4 triangular shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In mid-autumn it produces very large, wide fruit. The fuzzy silver skin is thin and sweet and sour, and the slightly crunchy azure flesh is bitter and syrupy. The black seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
