Crimson Heath Moss

This red moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In heathlands, and On rotten logs.
It is big, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is slightly hardy.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release hundred of spores.

It comes in 82 varieties.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It blooms only at night.
The petals are excellent for making pulp fibers
