Copper Shield Moss

This copper moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In marshes, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is huge, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly robust; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release hundred of spores.
