Bluevine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in hard, knobbly, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The extensive patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of tiny, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in green, peach and sky blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, vivid blue blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like wet dog.

In early summer it produces small, spherical fruit. The crispy light green skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy azure flesh is sour and juicy. The pale green seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
