Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In rainy mountain ranges, On rotten logs, and In marshes.
It is average-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is overwhelmingly robust; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores.
