Coniapple

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in very thick, cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The small bunches of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of tiny, long, tapering leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are intense purple and white.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, grey blossoms with long, tapering petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like rotten egg.

In mid-autumn it produces large, 9 pointed fruit. The hairy white skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy copper flesh is extremely sour and oily. The dark grey seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
