This green moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In rainforests, and In damp forests.
It is large, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps are exceptionally hardy, and is extremely light; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release thousands of spores.
