Caramel Blossom Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, dark brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The abundance of branches are very short and thick and are covered with large amounts of tiny, long, narrow leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are caramel with brown tips.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, vivid red blossoms with 8 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like sugar.

In late summer it produces , oval fruit. The sticky light grey skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy light purple flesh is slightly sour and sticky. The caramel seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
