Copperbloom

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in delicate, cracked, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, heart-shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are orange on the edges and olive at the center.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, gold blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like warm milk.

In mid-summer it produces , spherical fruit. The rubbery violet skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy light purple flesh is spicy and syrupy. The crimson seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
