Burgundy Teardrop Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In damp forests.
It is big, growing up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely rigid.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
