Carpetfruit

This big fruit tree grows up to 40 feet (12.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in thin, knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The abundance of branches are long and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in washed-out orange and pink varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, crimson blossoms with 9 oval-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like new carpet.

In late summer it produces small, oblong fruit. The crispy drab yellow skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the very soft blue flesh is bitter and powdery. The red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
