This brown moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In marshes.
It is average-sized, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is extremely robust; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release dozens of spores.

It has impressive regenerative properties.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
