Bluefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, smooth, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of large, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the edges and dark brown at the center.

In early spring, it produces many small, drab blue blossoms with 2 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an intense scent that smells like lemon.

In late autumn it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The clammy blue skin is thick and edible when roasted; it is bitter, and the soft grey flesh is bitter and juicy. The lime seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
