Azurefruit Tree

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 48 feet (14.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in hard, knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of giant, 3 pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid azure with azure dots.

In early spring, it produces clusters of medium-sized, drab purple blossoms with 6 heart-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

In early summer it produces , broad, flat fruit. The smooth pink skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is overwhelmingly sour, and the soft white flesh is sweet and very dry. The hazel seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
