Blood Red Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 6 pleated stems. Each stem is green and hazel, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid washed-out red spines. The spherical body is blood red, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is slow growing, taking 30 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid orange petals decorated with pink dots and a crimson central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is largely flat with 27 widely spaced round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like roses.

The cactus's skin is rock-hard, the bronze flesh is rough, and the dark brown sap is thin and can kill if consumed.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The sap causes severe rashes
