Brown Crescent Moss

This brown moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On trees, In bogs, and In moorlands.
It is average-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is overwhelmingly frail.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
