Bloodleaf

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 382 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, silky, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is dark brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of crispy, huge, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either blood red or vibrant green, with azure zig-zags.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, cream aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
