Aquamarine

This small cactus grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 6 slender, pointed stems. Each stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in brittle white spines. The mushroom-shaped body is yellow, and is covered in thick sheets of flexible aquamarine spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 15 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid vivid purple petals decorated with cream dots and a bold green central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. It has a weak scent that smells like cherry.

The cactus's skin is thick, the sky blue flesh is leathery, and the vivid yellow sap is thin.
