Bloodthorn Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The perforated stem is gray-green, and is covered in sharp spines. The wavy, yellow trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter at the top. Its moss green branches are short and thin and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The handfuls of tattered-edged, fan-like leaves are either florescent yellow or bronze, with silver lines. They are sturdy, but take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally blood red; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 petals. It has a weak scent that smells like leather.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the aquamarine flesh is rough, and the blood red sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
