This copper moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is extremely light.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release thousands of spores.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
